My husband Mark had surgery on his chest this last week. He had been trying for many months to avoid this surgery. There was much anxiety associated with it.
But everything went very well. He is currently still in the hospital awaiting evaluations for inpatient rehabilitative care.
I am very thankful for some things, and they are:
1. The day of surgery couldn't have gone any better than it did.
2. An excuse to enjoy my favorite caramel mochas each day I visit the hospital.
3. Family and friends who rally around and care for my family.
4. Very thorough medical students helping to manage Mark's diabetes care.
5. And a knowledgeable diabetes educator who blew my mind with a tip on getting high blood sugars down that I cannot believe no one ever told us before.
6. Grandparents getting to see AJ play soccer.
7. This damn wound is finally CLOSED.
8. So now Mark has a chance to recover and move on.
9. Other people besides me taking care of him (even though it does always feel weird).
10. The hope that maybe things can improve for him as he recovers. That maybe he will put some weight back on, and just get stronger in general. Maybe?

This being the 100th week of Lizzi's Ten Things of Thankful, I just HAD to write a list!
