An Interview With a Nine Year Old

This is the second year of a new tradition to ask my kids the same questions shortly after their birthdays to chronicle how their answers change over the years.

I shared Camryn's in the fall, after we got her school pictures back....

I completely forgot about AJ's school picture day, so I will use a photo my friend took, that I haven't shared anywhere else yet:

1. My favorite food is: bacon cheeseburger

2. The best show on TV is: Doctor Who

3. The coolest person on earth is: Mom and Dad

4. My favorite subject in school is: reading

5. The subject I like the least is: math

6. The thing I do best is: soccer

7. If I could go anywhere in the world, I'd go to: California

19. One food that I really dislike is: jalapenos

20. My favorite thing to do is: play at my friends' houses

AJ changes his food preferences often, so I'm not surprised his favorite food changed from last year.

I made the cut as a cool person this year!

Last year he said his favorite subject was math, and now it's his least favorite. I think the reason is becauce he's learning to multiply and divide, which he feels is very complicated.

After asking several times if he could play football, AJ has recently informed me that he doesn't like playing it as much as soccer (he plays games with his friends at the playground). I am very relieved by this because I really didn't want him to try being on a football team this young.

He's in 3rd grade, you guys. We all say it, but I just can't believe how big he is already. I still remember what his flips and kicks felt like in my belly. I hope I never forget.

How old are your kiddos? How have they changed lately?
