Out of the Corner of Her Eye

The cold is harsh.

She hopes for snow.

Winter passes with nary a flake.
She is disappointed.

Then, out of the corner of her eye, she sees them.

A bud. A leaf.

Hears birds chirp.

Spring!

And she is disappointed no more.
__________

My response to the question,
"Why do birds suddenly appear?",
in exactly 42 words.

**If this weren't family free month at Yeah Write, I probably would have tried to write about how The Carpenters' "Close to You" was my mother's song for me when I was a baby.
